National Conference of Viet Nam Veteran Ministers
Chaplaincy Support
Support of Chaplaincy programs in veterans organizations is an important mission of the National Conference of Viet Nam Veteran Ministers. We undertake this mission in several ways:
Service as Organizational Chaplains

State Level:

- William Doubek, one of 3 Missouri State Chaplains, VVA
- Joseph Formola, New Jersey State Chaplain, VVA
- Jim Johnson, Georgia State Chaplain, VVA
- Bryan McDowell, Louisiana State Chaplain, VVA
- Roy J. Morello, New York State Chaplain, VVA.
- Phil Salois, Massachusetts State Chaplain, VVA
Chapter Level:
- Joseph Formola, Chaplain, VVA Chapter 779
- Bryan McDowell, Chaplain, VVA Chapter 493
- John Petruska, Chaplain, VVA Chapter 200
- Phil Salois, Chaplain, VVA Chapter 818
- John Wielebski, Chaplain, VVA Chapter 172
Service as organizational chaplains permits us to bring our clergy gifts in service to veterans.
The following pictures were taken when Father Phil Salois conducted at St. Matthew's Cathedral in Washington, D. C. a memorial Mass for the 8 women nurses killed in action in Vietnam.
Chaplaincy Workshops
When possible, NCVNVM leadership conduct chaplaincy workshops for chapter and state chaplains of VVA and other Vietnam Veteran organizations. Such a workshop was conducted August 1-2, 1998 at the VVA National Leadership Conference in Savannah, Georgia. Topics covered at the workshop included:
An opportunity to share our pilgrimage journey from Vietnam to the present.
Spiritual Healing, the use of Scripture and PTSD
The VVA Chaplaincy Program
Features of effective chapter level chaplaincy programs
The chaplain's role as servant to all, not evangelist to some.
Rituals and Symbols in the role of healing: Use of the new VVA Ritual Book
A similar workshop was conducted in Baltimore in 1996 for Maryland Chapter Chaplains.
