National Conference of Viet Nam Veteran Ministers
Concerning the Upcoming Elections
A Peace and Justice Statement
October 15, 2004
The National Conference of Viet Nam Veteran Ministers, meeting in Chicago, IL, October 11 to October 15, 2004, and after prayerful reflection, adopted the following resolution concerning the upcoming elections:
Whereas, the opportunity to vote is a living gift to each citizen secured by the men and women of the armed forces; and
Whereas, for a citizen to fail to vote is to us a betrayal of the men and women who have served our nation in the armed forces, a betrayal of the men and women currently serving in the armed forces, and a betrayal of the future of our nation’s children;
Therefore, we urge each citizen to accept the responsibility that accompanies the gift secured by our veterans and those currently serving in the armed forces and vote in the upcoming elections on November 2nd.
