International Conference of War Veteran Ministers
Annual Meeting 2005
In 2005 we met September 26 - 30 in Attleboro at the Center for Christian Living.

We took our group photo while signing the papers to formally change our name to International Conference of War Veteran Ministers. From left to right, front row: Linda McClenahan, Alan Cutter, Phil Salois; back row: Wally Te Ua, Jeff Turk, Fran Irvin, Gerard Vardy, Jack Day, Neal Allen, James Warrington, Dave Finster, Kateri Koverman, Dick Shannon, Andrew Rawding, Bob Reilly, Betsy McLean, Ken Herbster, Charlie Marshall.

Dr. Jonathan Shay discussese means of preventing PTSD.

Wally Te Ua talks about Vietnam Veterans in Australia and New Zealand while wrapped in the Australian flag.

In the Closing Celebration of Stories, a candle was lit for each story of pain and meeting.
The candles surrounded a display of figurines of soldiers and mischievous veterans soon arranged the soldiers to take advantage of the cover of the candles to protect their positions. In the juxtaposition of these images, a sacred space became a battlefield and then with the lighting of the candles, was reclaimed as a sacred space.
Events included:
- A memorial service for our friend and member, Alan McLean. See the Alan McLean Memorial Page on this site.
- Presentations by each of our international members, Gerard Vardy, Gerard Vardy, and Andrew Rawding, as well as by Jonathan Shay.
- An update on our projects, including the soon-to-be-published Risking Connection curriculum.
- An excursion to the home of our member John Brock and his wife for a cookout on a lake in New Hampshire.
