"The Hippie Chaplain"

Bruce Chaffee, Chaplain's Assistant, Photographer, January, 1969

Picture taken in front of the Chaplain's tent at the Oasis, a location where the First Brigade headquartered west of Pleiku on the road to Cambodia. Notice the blue chaplain flag with the white cross flying from the tent. Notice also the daisy on the side of the jeep. The colored circle on the front bumper is a peace sign. These decorations occasioned fewer negative reactions from the brass than one might have ecpected!
